Teri Meets Doris...

At the Drama Association of Wales AGM on Saturday 21st November, Teri McCarthy (Treasurer of Telstars and one of our longest serving members) welcomed Margaret John as the guest speaker. Margaret has won the hearts of many in her roles on TV appearing in Casualty, District Nurse, Little Britain and Dr Who in 1968 and 2006 [apparently Margaret holds the record for the longest break between appearances]. More recently she has appeared as Elsie Hellplwhite [Mam] in High Hopes, Edith Sellwood in the BBC Drama 'Framed' and can of course been seen once again as the wonderful Doris in 'Gavin & Stacey'.

Teri commented: "The AGM is a highlight of the year for me as I always look forward to their 'guest speaker' and this year was no exception. We were in the presence of one of the most loved Welsh celebrities and we were not disappointed. Margaret captivated us with her tales and time went by just too quickly. Everyone loved her talk which was done as a question and answer session with the DAW's Member Services Officer, Teresa Hennessy and which everyone agreed was over all too soon. Never being one to miss an opportunity I asked Margaret for a photograph and she happily obliged. It's not very often I like a photograph but I really like this one as it will give me a many happy memories of a very special lady and a very special day."
