Prize Winning Jo

The South Wales Echo ran a Christmas Short Story competition over the Christmas period last year and readers were invited to submit entries of a maximum of 1,000 words with the theme of the 'credit crunch' .

Three prizes of 20, 50 and 100 of Waterstones' vouchers were awarded to the top three entries which were printed during Christmas week with the winning story appearing in Christmas Eve's edition of the Echo.

Our very own Jo West won with her story entitled 'The day Rudolf' got the sack' outlining the consequences of the credit crunch for Father Christmas obliged to downsize the sleigh team and the problems encountered by a newly unemployed Rudolf in his fruitless quest to find a job on Christmas Eve.

Congratulations Jo!
